Born into a musical family with her mother Smt. Rupa Sridhar being an accomplished vocalist, grandfather Sri G. Krishnaswami a violinist (student of Vid. Anoor S. Ramakrishna) and grandmother a vocalist, she has been imbibing music from a young age. Her grandmother Smt. Jayalakshmi is the first Guru of her mother Smt. Rupa Sridhar, who later went on to train under Vid. Anoor S. Ramakrishna and Padmabhushan Dr. M.L. Vasantakumari.
Madhuvanthi secured the Second rank in the Senior music exam organized by the KSEEB, and has completed her Vidvat exam with a first class.
She has performed in many prestigious sabhas including the Bangalore Gayana Samaj, Fort High School, Sheshadripuram Ramotsavam, Malleshwaram Sangeetha Sabha, N.R. Mohalla Sangeetha Sabha (Mysore) and others. She was the first runner up in the Naadakishorotsava concert competition organized by Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha, Mysore in August 2009.
She has also won prizes in various music competitions at the Bangalore Gayana Samaj, Thyagaraja Gana Sabha, Youth festival of Bangalore University and others.
She has sung before and has been appreciated by stalwarts such as Sangeetha Kalanidhi Vid. Nedunuri Krishnamurthy, Kalaimamani Vid. A. Kanyakumari, Vid. Sudha Ragunathan, Vid. N. Ramani and others.
